One-day kayaking for beginners at Pchelina Reservoir, located 1 hour and 30 minutes from Sofia. Children over 12 years old are also allowed.

Tour Itinerary

Meeting 8:00 AM - Sofia, the parking lot in front of the Vasil Levski National Stadium.

9:30 AM: Meeting at the shore of the reservoir for those with personal transport (you will receive the exact location after registration).
We will equip ourselves, conduct the briefing, and get everyone onto the kayaks. On this day, we’ve prepared a meeting with stunning views from a truly magical location, one of our favorite places for a walk, close to Sofia. A legend tells of the submerged village of Pchelintsi, with the only remaining structure being the chapel of "Saint John the Summer." Built on a rock overlooking the reservoir, this chapel holds more than 6th-century history. It was constructed here, as if someone once suspected that the village would eventually be turned into a reservoir... The reservoir and its surroundings boast rich biodiversity, and birdwatchers may spot ducks, herons, or water hens amidst the reeds. An interesting section we will paddle to is the marshland area where the Struma River flows into the reservoir. Once we put our kayaks into the water, we will take a route that will lead us to the base of the Chapel. We’ll pause for photos and fill our eyes and hearts with the breathtaking views. We’ve also scheduled time for a picnic on the shore. After the break, kayaking continues towards the mouth of the Struma River. We will paddle between the reeds as far as the river’s current allows. We’ll exit the water and head back to the city.

  • Single kayaks are given only to people with experience and upon prior request - additional charge 25 lv. per day
Important:
  • In the event of a change in weather conditions during the tour or other unforeseen situations, the guide may change the route or offer another alternative option to the participants for their safety.
  • If the program cannot happen due to bad weather forecast, the organizer will refund 100% of the price to the participants
  • In order to take part in the tour, you must be in good physical health and condition, and notify the organizer in case you have any illnesses or injuries
  • If the number of participants is less than the minimum 6 and the program will not happen, the organizer will notify all registered participants up to 7 days before the event
  • Discounts cannot be combined

The tourist owes a penalty as follows:

  • 20 or more days before tour start: Cancellation fee of 10 BGN, as well as if there are actual costs incurred for bus transfers, hotel reservations, etc., included in the package price of the trip
  • Between 19 and 14 days before tour start: 30% from the price
  • Between 13 and 7 days before tour start: 60% from the price
  • Less than 3 days before tour start: 100% from the price
